“Awesome. Can I book you for our next dinner party?”
“The audience will laugh and, probably, tear up a little as one of the most beloved Southern writers of the 20th century is brought back to life.”
Birmingham News
”I have read a Lewis Grizzard book and I have seen Lewis Grizzard speak in public…..and I could have sworn Lewis was back from the grave when I saw and heard Steve do his Lewis Grizzard act! He is so spot on I would say he is channeling Lewis Grizzard. Southern humor with that classic Lewis Grizzard bite and edge….hire Steve Cook for your next event and you will spend the entire time laughing!”
President, Marty Mercer Inc., Atlanta
“Although Grizzard died in 1994, his humor is still immediate, and the audience roared. ‘Lewis Grizzard: In His Own Words’ is fast-paced and very funny, a theatrical reminder of how much he is missed by his legions of fans and readers.
The Post and Courier, Charleston, SC
“Thanks for everything. I have had several people say great things about the show. We truly enjoyed it. Also, I am glad you put the (SC) police joke in, it was great! Thanks again for a wonderful performance.”
Jay Hendrix
Batesburg-Leesville FD, South Carolina
“The audience laughed till it cried, and then wept when it couldn’t laugh. The stories and jokes poured out as the audience laughed so hard it almost rolled in the aisles. Folks needed the intermission between acts, for during the break there were countless remarks like, ‘My ribs are so sore from laughing, I don’t know if I’ll last out the rest of the show!’”
The Enterprise, Wallace, NC
“Steve is an incredible actor. Everything he has done that I have seen has been professional and entertaining! I would recommend that everyone check out this show.”
Cathy Cobbs
Managing Editor, Dunwoody Crier (North Atlanta)
”Grizzard tromps on stage and jumps right into much debated Southern issues – like Yankees. And while he runs the gamut from enemas to chili dogs to women…he always comes back to his roots in the red earth of Georgia. A joke, a tale, a myth about the South is never far from the spotlight.”
The Chronicle, Cheraw, SC
“Creativity is what makes Steve Cook such a success.
The guy can take normal material and find a way to bring it alive and somehow manages to make it something unique!
John Kincade
Syndicated Host, ESPN Radio

Lewis Grizzard packed ‘em in throughout the country on his annual concert tours, and in the process he became one of the most sought after performers in the South. In addition, he achieved national fame as a best-selling author and syndicated columnists.
Ten years ago, his widow Dedra Grizzard, and his friend and manager Steve Enoch created a loving tribute; a touring re-creation of Lewis’ wildly-popular stage shows. They have personally selected material for the tribute performance from both the classic stories his fans loved, and new readings from his columns and books. And now they’ve selected Steve Cook to bring those stories to life on stage. This is the show that Lewis was planning to take on the road in 1994, had he survived his last surgery.
The performance has been running across the southeast for the past 8+ years to rave reviews and is available in lengths of 45 minutes and 1 1/2 hours. There was only ONE Lewis Grizzard, but this authorized tribute to his memory is as close as we will come to seeing and enjoying him onstage again.
